Precious Children

This past Wednesday I spoke to the group of Awana children at my church. The leaders had asked me to tell them about my decision and where I would be going so that they could pray for me over the next year. I shared with them about how the Lord will speak to anyone through whatever means He can. (but not always in the obvious way of Moses and the burning bush).

They had a few minutes to ask questions. I have to say, they had a few really good questions. One boy asked, "Do you have to go?" No one has asked me that yet, but I figure it's been on a few minds. I told him that I didn't HAVE to go, but that I wouldn't be very happy if I didn't obey God. I think that might have been my second favorite moment.

My favorite moment was after I had finished talking. The kids were leaving to go to their group activities and a little 4-year-old boy named Michael brought me a dollar. He didn't say anything, but his mom, Annie, came to tell me that Michael had asked her for a dollar to give to the missionary. I had forgotten how easy it is for little children to hear the Lord and obey him. Their hearts are not hardened yet, and they aren't worried about what other people think. If only it were as easy for the rest of us to hear and obey. May the Lord bring you an opportunity to hear and obey this week!
